How Do I Password Protect My Website? (Directory Protection)General Hosting Questions

DomainIT provides the ability to password protect your entire website, or individual folders or files. 1) Login to your Account Manager at https://www.domainit.com/myaccount 2) In the "Account Manger" side menu, click "Open Control Panel" 3) Under "Security" click on the "Password Protect Directories" icon 3) Click "Go" 4) If you wish to password protect your entire site , click "/public_html" 4a) Alternatively, you can select specific folders or files if you wish to password protect individual folders/files. 5) Check the box "Password protect this directory" and enter a name for the protected directory. 6) Click "Save" 7) Click "Go Back" to create a user that can access the protected directory. 8) Under "Create User", enter a username and password (twice). 9) Click "Add/modify authorized user" Allow a few minutes for the server to update, and click the refresh button in your browser when visiting your site if it does not pop up asking for your new username/password. | |
